Steve Huttly

Guest Lecturer

Steve first became interested in theatre while at the University of Kent, where he took a part time job at the Gulbenkain Theatre. Even though Steve was studying economic and social history and politics and government, the theatre staff mentored and encouraged him, which enabled him to get his first full-time job at the Kings Theatre in Southsea.

Since then Steve has worked in a variety of roles, including as a light designer and production electrician on many touring productions. He joins The National College team after 23 years’ teaching at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, where he was head of Theatre Technology.

Previous Employment:

  • Lighting Designer
  • Production Electrician
  • Head of Theatre Technology – Guildhall School of Music & Drama
