About the National College
The National College Creative Industries has been founded by leading employers including: Live Nation, the Royal Opera House, the BBC, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, Manchester Royal Exchange, the National Theatre, Ambassadors Theatre Group, White Light, BECTU and the Association of British Theatre Technicians (ABTT). Our curriculum is designed by the industry for the industry, providing specialist hands-on training in the technical skills required by the creative and cultural sector.
September 2016 saw our first intake of students. As we guarantee work placements with our network of employers, places are limited.
World-class facilities and hands-on learning
The National College Creative Industries is based at The Backstage Centre at High House Production Park in Thurrock.
Our neighbours include the Royal Opera House’s production workshop and costume centre. Our award-winning rehearsal and training space provides opportunities for hands-on learning alongside the professionals who rehearse, record and film there.
Artists and organisations to have recently hired our facilities include Derren Brown, Rod Stewart, Pet Shop Boys, Bastille, Diversity, Leona Lewis and Film London.
Since September 2016, our students have worked with Matthew Bourne’s team on their production of The Red Shoes. They have also worked on the Jo Cox charity foundation single ‘You Can’t Always Get What You Want’ featuring KT Tunstall, Ricky Wilson, Steve Harley and the Parliamentary choir.
Our students have gained exceptional industry experience which will go on to define their careers.
The creative industry is looking for resilient, independent, curious and hard-working creative people. If that is you, contact us today or come along to one of our open days to discuss your next step.
