Fern will be joining the National College Creative Industries Governing Body on 1st August 2017.

Fern is Director of Development for New English Ballet Theatre and is responsible for developing and leading the organisation's strategy for all fundraising activities. Fern started as a professional dancer in New York City, performing, choreographing and teaching. She has worked in fundraising for arts and cultural sector since 1990 - developing organisations and implementing strategic frameworks for effective fundraising from all areas of private giving. She has held a variety of posts including: Director of Development with Dance UK; Head of Development with Dance Umbrella, Development Manager with the Ballet Boyz, Senior Development Manager with Index on Censorship, and Founding Director of Essexdance. 

Fern consults on development activities and has worked with the Barbican, Orlando Ballet, The Place, and DanceEast, among other clients, and has worked in the corporate sector as Business Development Manager with Tom Peters Company (UK). Fern is a qualified teacher and taught in a number of schools as well as delivering teacher training for Essex County Council and more recently, for English National Ballet’s Dance for Parkinson’s Training programme.  She is currently a trainer on writing successful applications for funding for the Arts Funding and Philanthropy Programme and a regular lecturer in Fundraising for the Cultural Sector for City, University of London’s MA Arts Management programme.
