Directors are ultimately responsible for the artistic interpretation of the production – coordinating everything from the casting to the final performance.
Directors come from a wide range of backgrounds from across the creative industry. Some start out as Actors, and some begin their careers as Stage Managers, before moving to Assistant Directing and progressing from there. Others take an academic route, completing degree courses at university.
The National College offers a range of pathways and frameworks designed to help aspiring directors develop essential foundation skills and build valuable industry experience.
